Runway 5-23 Rehabilitation Project – Phase XI
Upcoming phase of construction includes continuous closure of Runway 5-23 from July 28 – August 30

Phase XI of the Runway 5-23 Rehabilitation Project consists of runway paving totaling 2,500 feet from south of Taxiway Echo to north of Taxiway Foxtrot. Work involves milling, asphalt grade correction and base and top course asphalt layers. Similar work will take place on Runway 13-31 and Taxiways Echo, Bravo and Foxtrot within the Runway 5-23 safety areas.
Phase XI is expected to have a timeframe similar to Phase IX in 2023, which saw culvert replacement work underneath Runway 5-23 and Taxiway Alpha.

Over the next 5-7 years, MMU will continue a major rehabilitation project for Runway 5-23. Separated in annual stages to minimize operational impacts, Phase X was completed in November, 2024. Work included extending the runway 5 safety area in preparation for a new localizer and EMAS. Phase XI details will be shared in the first quarter of 2025.
