Hanover Township – DM AIRPORTS, LTD., operators of Morristown Airport, is offering five scholarships to members of the graduating classes of Morristown, Whippany Park, Hanover Park and Madison high schools for the 16th year.
Seniors from the aforementioned high schools are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The one-time award of $1,250 may be used for tuition, books or other eligible fees associated with college attendance. Students interested in being considered for the scholarship can complete applications available from their high school guidance office.
This year’s selection process marks the 16th year that the airport will offer the scholarships. Since the program’s inception in 2001, nearly 200 area students have received financial assistance for their freshman year of college, totaling $250,000. DM AIRPORTS, LTD will award a total of $6,250 to students from the Class of 2016, bringing the total of scholarships granted beyond the $250,000 mark.
“We are very excited to be able to offer these scholarships to local students for a 16th year,” said Airport Executive Director Bill Barkhauer. “Hard-working and well-rounded exemplifies the type of people who work at Morristown Airport and it’s gratifying to reward students who mirror our values.”
DM AIRPORTS, LTD., the private company that operates Morristown Municipal Airport, funds the scholarship program and defines the selection criteria. Cherry Hill, New Jersey-based Scholarship Managers, a division of Career Opportunities Through Education, Inc. (C.O.T.E), receives and evaluates individual applications, and selects the actual scholarship recipients.
The deadline for returning all application materials is March 15th, 2016. The Airport expects to announce award recipients by April 6th. For more information or an application, please contact the high school guidance departments.
