Runway 5-23 February Closures
As part of the Runway 5-23 Rehabilitation Project, Morristown Airport is required to do geotechnical work in the Runway Safety Areas. In order to conduct this work, MMU was required to obtain a permit from the NJDEP. While originally anticipated to be received sometime in the late spring or summer of 2016, MMU was able to obtain the permit several months ahead of schedule after coordinating with the NJDEP; allowing us to reduce the overall project time. Now that the permit has been received, the geotechnical work will take place during the month of February (weather permitting).
Runway 5-23 will be closed on the following days starting at 10:00pm and reopening by 6:00am.
Monday, February 15th – CANCELED (inclement weather)
Tuesday February 16th – Completed
The remaining dates listed below in red for Geotechnical work on Runway 5-23 have BEEN CANCELED. At this time, there are no further scheduled closures for the runway. However, there may be one or two additional night closures scheduled for later in February or early March. These dates will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
