Taxiway Reconstruction Project.

Morristown Municipal Airport has been offered approximately $5 million dollars as part of stimulus funds being made available by the Federal Government. These funds are being used to reconstruct taxiways Delta, Mike, Charlie, Lima, and Kilo. Additionally new taxiway lights will be installed on taxiways Charlie, Lima, and Kilo.

While this project will greatly enhance the infrastructure of Morristown Airport, it will impact all tenants. Airport management has worked to reduce all closures to the smallest period of time possible and reduce negative impacts to tenants. However some impacts are unavoidable and several tenants will not have regular access to their hangars for prolonged periods of time. DM AIRPORTS, LTD. recognizes that this project will inconvenience airport tenants. Therefore airport management has assembled the attached information to assist tenants in planning for this major construction project.

Construction has been tentatively scheduled to begin on August 18th, but this date may change. August 18th represents the latest possible date for the beginning of the project. This date may be brought forward by one or two weeks should funding be made available by the FAA earlier. DM will regularly update airport tenants as the construction start date nears. Airport Operations will be working to ensure that all tenants are able to operate safely and efficiently during the project.

Please review the attached information. Please note that all dates are subject to change due to weather and other circumstances. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact Airport Operations at 973-538-3366 ext. 116 or PeterG@mmuair.com.

Information For Transient Aircraft

Starting in mid-August Morristown Municipal Airport will be reconstructing several taxiways. This work is expected to last until approximately the first week of November. This reconstruction will displace several based aircraft and will also result in Runway 13-31 being closed so it may be used for overflow parking. Airport Management has streamlined this project to ensure minimal inconvenience to all airport users. The airport website, www.mmuair.com, will be updated regularly throughout the project. Please visit the site for the latest information on this airport project.

Transient Aircraft Going to Signature Flight Support: All aircraft receiving services at Signature are asked to contact Signature at 129.6 at least 15 minutes prior to landing.

Hangar One will be open and accessible throughout the project and will act as the primary location for parking and services. Should demand for the Hangar One apron exceed capacity overflow parking will be available on Runway 13-31. All services will be available on the Runway and passengers will be promptly driven to the terminal.

Transient Aircraft Going to FTC FBO LLC.: All aircraft receiving services at FTC FBO LLC. are asked to contact the office at 130.95 at least 15 minutes prior to landing.

Aircraft with a wingspan less than 66 feet
Transient aircraft with a wingspan less than 66 feet will be permitted to taxi to the terminal. Upon reaching the intersection of Taxiways Bravo and Kilo, a wing walker will assist aircraft in taxiing to the ramp. Do not proceed down Taxiway Kilo without the assistance of a wing walker. Please use caution when taxiing on Taxilane Kilo. Taxilane Kilo has non-standard safety areas, the distance between the centerline and the adjacent hangars is 50 feet. When departing the ramp please follow all instructions as issued by the line technicians.

Aircraft with a wingspan greater than 66 feet
All aircraft with a wingspan greater than 66 feet will be required to taxi to the western end of taxiway bravo and shut down. Passengers will be promptly transported to the terminal and the aircraft will be tugged to the apron. When departing the ramp, please follow all instructions as issued by the line technicians.

All Aircraft Requiring U.S. Customs: Starting in mid-September all aircraft requiring clearance from U.S. Customs will be cleared on Taxiway Romeo. After all entry procedures are completed aircraft will be required to taxi to the apron. Passengers will not be permitted to disembark on the taxiway.

Transient Aircraft Servicing Airport Tenants: Any transient aircraft operating on behalf of an airport tenant should contact Airport Operations at 973-538-3366 ext. 146 for further information.

Information For West Tie Down Licensees

Morristown Municipal Airport will be starting a taxiway reconstruction project in Mid-August. Taxiways Kilo, Lima, Charlie, Delta and Mike will be repaved and new taxiway lights will be installed. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin around August 18 and will last approximately 80 days. While we are working to minimize interruptions in operations, people with aircraft in the West Tie-Down will notice more aircraft and automobile traffic utilizing Taxilane Kilo. A few airplanes in the West Tie-Down are being temporarily relocated in order to widen Taxiway Kilo. The owners of these aircraft have already been notified.

Please make sure you are parking your automobile in your tie-down spot. Spots which are currently empty are being filled with displaced aircraft. Additionally, parking adjacent to the T-hangars will no longer be tolerated. Any car found to be parked to close to the taxiway will be towed immediately.

During the length of the project, Runway 13/31 will be closed to facilitate parking for jet aircraft which do not have access to their hangars. Please make sure you check NOTAMs before each flight for the latest closures. Once the project starts, more detailed and timely information will be posted on our web site, www.mmuair.com.
